Area Police
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
